Features of the printed chart.

In printer-mode, the Meteor2000TR generates a printed chart full of information on the barometric pressure and its variation with time. In addition to its special features, it is a precision barometer and sophisticated barograph. At every hour, the instrument prints the atmospheric pressure in mB with a resolution of 0.1mB, the gradient of the atmospheric pressure in mB/hour to 0.01 mB/hour resolution, and a graphical barometric trace with a resolution of 1mB.

At midnight, a table of statistical data is printed, comprising the maximum, minimum and average pressures over the past 24 hours, the variance of the pressure in sq.mB which is a measure of the changeability of the weather, and the end slope over the past 4 hours which indicates the weather trend.

In data-logging mode, the data is recorded internally, for future download.

The Meteor2000TR Precision Barometric Transient Recorder.

The Meteor2000TR is a specialised instrument for detecting and recording atmospheric pressure transients which occur in aircraft, vehicles, aircondioned buildings and in industrial environments. Where these variations in pressure need to be detected and measured for aural health and safety purposes, precision metrology or for environmental assessment, the Meteormetrics Meteor2000TR is ideal. It provides precise monitoring, large data capacity and easy data processing and presentation. With high precision, 0.1 mB resolution and intelligent processing, the Meteor2000TR is provided with software for Windows (2000 - Windows 7), which is simple to install and provides a host of features which makes downloading, presentation, analysis and recording of barometric data easy and convenient.

To illustrate the potential of the Meteor2000TR Transient Pressure Event Recorder, and instrument was set to record transients with a threshold of 0.8mB/sec and placed in a motor car and driven up a 80 metre hill, and immediately down again at a speed of about 40 miles per hour. During this time, the Meteor2000TR recorded 60 transient events.

The screen shot above shows the downloaded data in a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. A plot of pressure against time for the whole experiment is shown using a red trace. Selected transients are plotted in insets at points along the main trace.

The overall red trace shows the pressure changes as would be expected from the change in altitude. The inset plots give the fine structure to the pressure changes. During the experiment the driver was aware of the pressure changes via his ears (slight “popping”) on 2 occasions on ascent and 2 on descent.
